“Comparing Socioeconomic Statuses of Queer Americans and the General Population”

Each summer, at the end of the six-week summer bridge program, the 51 first year David M. Rubenstein Scholars presented their research as posters at the David M. Rubenstein Scholars Poster Presentation. These student teams picked their own research topics which ranged from predicting basketball team performance to top 40 music trends to analyzing the effect of parental wealth and race on the status of offspring.

Although racism and sexism are seen as two of the most contributing factors to the socioeconomic statuses of today’s Americans, another factor, sexuality, has become an important component in determining the class of an individual in present day. This study will show how socioeconomic statuses of queer Americans compare to the general population.
