“Investigating Factors Affecting Access to Antenatal Care in Ethiopia: A Markov Chain Analysis”

Each summer, at the end of the six-week summer bridge program, the 51 first year David M. Rubenstein Scholars presented their research as posters at the David M. Rubenstein Scholars Poster Presentation. These student teams picked their own research topics which ranged from predicting basketball team performance to top 40 music trends to analyzing the effect of parental wealth and race on the status of offspring.

“Investigating Factors Affecting Access to Antenatal Care in Ethiopia: A Markov Chain Analysis”

In developing countries such as Ethiopia, the number of women receiving antenatal care has reached a daunting 28%. Our study uses a Markov model to find how education, autonomy, location, and wealth affect the probability of an Ethiopian woman receiving at least one antenatal care visit throughout her pregnancy.
