Current Research Project: I am interested in developing new magneto-optical devices utilizing singled walled carbon nanotubes. Faraday rotation, which is an important phenomenon in these systems as they could serve as optical isolators for telecommunication. Because the excitation absorption wavelength from carbon nanotube ground state to defects on match the telecommunication frequency, this gives us opportunities to modulate the defects using metal complexes or other organic molecules to enhance Faraday rotation. Basically, my research is more inorganic based metal complex research focused on excitation states.
 
How he got involved in research: I originally used MUSER to apply for research labs but I failed. Thus, I start to cold email professors in the Chem department and connect with professors I had class with. Many of them did not reply and who replied said that they don't have availability. Thus, I found my DUS and ask him to connect me with a mentor. I would like to provide future researchers with alternative ways to find research opportunities in cases where MUSER and cold emailing did not work.
