Pronouns: she/her
Current Research Project: One research project I am involved in is creating an antibody-drug conjugate therapy for breast and prostate cancer. I am also working on a related project in the field of cancer immunology- exploring the role of B-cells in different tumor microenvironments. Additionally, I am in a Bass Connections team this year which explores the implementation of Real-time Benefit Tools in Medicare Part D plans. Finally, I am part of a research team at the Duke School of Nursing, where I collect data from Latino immigrant families to investigate the effectiveness of SER Familia (a prevention intervention delivered by community health workers) to reduce the syndemic of substance abuse, IPV, HIV risk, depression, and anxiety.
How she got involved with research: I first got involved in research by cold-emailing faculty who were researching topics that I was really interested in. I did this by searching up my interests in Scholars@Duke and looking through the faculty who were conducting research in the respected topics. I then sent out several cold-emails and eventually received a research position. The other type of research I am involved in, Bass Connections, was acquired by applying to the portal.
