Summer Positions Available
- Miao Lab Position
The Miao lab is moving to Duke (from UNC) in April 2020! We are seeking motivated, enthusiastic, dependable students who are interested in gaining research experience. The lab studies the immune response to bacterial pathogens in the Department of Immunology at Duke. Since we will be new to Duke, students will have the unique opportunity to participate in the establishment of our recently constructed lab space in MSRB3. Initial responsibilities will be to maintain a transgenic mouse colony, including managing breeding mice and weaning pups (this position does not include routine cage changes). Further responsibilities will include organizing laboratory supplies and making buffers and media. If interested, the candidate could progress to being involved in ongoing research projects within the lab and over time with displayed accountability could pursue independent projects. Minimum 10-15 hour per week commitment during the school year. Continued availability in the summer is required with the option of increased hours over the summer. Qualifications: undergraduate student in pursuit of a Biology or related degree. On the job training will be provided. Freshmen and sophomores are encouraged to apply, with the option of a long-term commitment. Students interested in joining the lab should email their resume or CV to firstname.lastname@example.org, including GPA and a list of biology and chemistry courses taken and grades received.
