Current Research Project: I am interested in using mathematical models to tackle real-world problems in biology and healthcare. At Duke’s You Lab, I am building and validating a mathematical model that helps predict how antibiotic resistance spreads in bacterial communities, combining computational techniques with mechanistic modeling. In parallel, through Duke’s Bass Connections program, I am studying policy strategies to address both antibiotic resistance and climate change. My goal is to connect the insights from data and mathematical modeling with health policy so they can lead to practical, effective solutions.

How he got involved with research: I got involved in research at Duke because I wanted to apply what I was learning in class to real-world problems. I was really interested in applied mathematics and in health policy, so I started reaching out to faculty whose work aligned with my interests. I connected with the You Lab in my freshman year because of their focus on quantitative approaches to pressing biological problems, and they welcomed me onto their team.
