Responsible Conduct of Research Training and Tutorials

Conducting research is an opportunity to discover, learn, observe, and contribute to scholarly work; and it is also a privilege that comes with great responsibilities to conduct yourself and your research with integrity and honesty.

In line with these responsibilities, URS requires URS grant applicants to complete the “Research Misconduct (RCR-Basic) (ID 16604)” course in order to be eligible to receive the grant. We acknowledge that humanities researchers may not feel all this information to be pertinent to their research, however, we trust they will find most topics to be relevant and important for any researcher.

All Duke undergraduate students supported on a federally sponsored research program (NIH, DoD, FDA, etc.) are required to complete additional modules. You can find this information at the Department of Scientific Integrity website. The Research Misconduct (RCR-Basic) (ID 16604) training that is a portion of these required modules is the same one that URS requires.

Duke has partnered with CITI (the Collaborative Institutional Training Institute) to provide online training in the Responsible Conduct of Research.
