“The Effect of Long-Term vs. Short-Term Performance History on the 2018 NHL Playoffs”

Each summer, at the end of the six-week summer bridge program, the 51 first year David M. Rubenstein Scholars presented their research as posters at the David M. Rubenstein Scholars Poster Presentation.

These student teams picked their own research topics which ranged from predicting basketball team performance to top 40 music trends to analyzing the effect of parental wealth and race on the status of offspring.

Sports are an ageless phenomenon that affect people on a global to personal spectrum. Using a modified version of Google’s Pagerank, this research shows that the more performance history data used in the model, the better one can predict who will win the National Hockey League Stanley Cup.
